Associate Attorney

We are looking for a newly-admitted attorney to join our firm’s civil litigation practice located two blocks away from the Empire State Building in New York City. The ideal candidate is one who has superior legal research skills, experience drafting legal documents such as pleadings and legal memoranda, has strong organizational skills, and is willing to take on a heavy workload. This position imparts broad responsibilities and exposes you to various areas of law (including civil litigation), an assorted range of regulatory authorities, as well as internal administrative matters.

Requirements:

• Must be currently admitted to practice law in NY or NJ (multiple-state admission is a big PLUS)
• Strong legal research skills — proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus
• Must possess superior organizational & time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with senior management and employees of all levels throughout the organization

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the firm’s senior attorneys in supervising a heavy & diversified client base.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, reviewing & drafting agreements, etc.
• Communicating with the firm’s clients as well as opposing parties
• Research with regard to simple and complex legal, ethical, and regulatory matters.
• Assisting the firm’s senior attorneys in supervising various duties delegated to legal & non-legal staff.

Support Staff

Responsibilities:

• Organize and maintain filing and retrieval systems.
• Manage calendars, organize and schedule external and internal meetings, teleconferences, networking events, etc.
• Open, maintain, and close client files.
• E-filing in various courts and jurisdictions.
• Track Expense reports.
• Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents.
• Format documents, input data, edit, copy, scan and transmit text, data and graphics, transcribe tapes.
• Handle multiple projects at once.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of related legal administrative support experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Internet research skills, document
management systems, attorney time entry software. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in
grammar and spelling. Proactive work style and analytical skills: able to read, research, review, verify and route correspondence, reports, and legal documents. Strong production skills with the ability to produce accurate work products when transcribing tapes, formatting documents, inputting data, editing, copying, scanning and transmitting text, data and graphics. Excellent client service skills with proven record of building effective relationships with both internal and external clients.
